Bug Description

Pinta 1.7.0.125 on Ubuntu 14.04. (This is not a regression, I checked the 1.6 officiall stable and the same behaviour).

Look at Tools and Palette there are only Autohide icons at top-right corner.
Look at Images, History and Layers there are Autohide and Close buttons.

This is inconsistency and I see no reason why should it be like this.

In my humble opinion I would remove "Close" buttons from Images, History and Layers, because I accidently click this buttons very often. I also saw my friend clicking this button and he has no clue how to get window back.

In my humble opinion the only way to turn on/off this windows should be by executing View | Tools Windows options.

Good point, I'm not sure that there's much benefit to being able to close those pads vs. just hiding them?

... and closing is still possible from View | Tools Windows options for those that would like to close them and maybe rearrange the pads in different way as default. For example to close Layers and History pads and just move Images pads to some other location like top or bottom. But this is probably one time change and in this case View | Tools Windows is just perfect for this change.

And of course if we think on average Joe, clicking on "x" to experiment what this button is and then have no clue how to get it back.

Sometimes even removing some feature makes product better.

P.S. Can we set the milestone to 1.7?
