Bug Description

The graphisc of Asus X2000M notebook (Intel(R) HD Graphics) is not supported by the kernels vmlinuz-3.13.0-45-generic and vmlinuz-3.13.0-46-generic used in Kubuntu 14.04, but is supported by the older kernel vmlinuz-3.13.0-41-generic. The correct screen resolution 1366x678@60.1 can't be launched and the user selection screen is not visible at all after rebooting. Lhe log-file Xorg.0.log.old for invalid loading with vmlinuz-3.13.0-46-generic is attached.

System:
Kubuntu 14.04
Ubuntu 3.13.0-41.70-generic 3.13.11.11 (for VALID loading with vmlinuz-3.13.0-41-generic, for invalid loading with vmlinuz-3.13.0-46-generic the system even can't be launched)

This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem. From a terminal window please run:

apport-collect 1426685

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

If, due to the nature of the issue you have encountered, you are unable to run this command, please add a comment stating that fact and change the bug status to 'Confirmed'.

This change has been made by an automated script, maintained by the Ubuntu Kernel Team.

I made:
sudo apt-get install python-apport
apport-collect 1426685

The answer was:
Could not import module, is a package upgrade in progress? Error: No module named PyQt4.QtCore

I sent Xorg.0.log in my first message. Do other logs are needed? I suppose 'apport-collect 1426685' works incorrectly. Why? What I should do?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.0 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Dear Joseph,

I installed three packages

linux-headers-4.0.0-040000rc1_4.0.0-040000rc1.201502222235_all.deb
linux-headers-4.0.0-040000rc1-generic_4.0.0-040000rc1.201502222235_amd64.deb
linux-image-4.0.0-040000rc1-generic_4.0.0-040000rc1.201502222235_amd64.deb

The bug with graphics was fixed but I have two new problems:
1) I have no internet, both wired and wireless
2) I can't close the system and reboot: the computer freezes up
(ctr-alt-F1 etc does not work)

The kernel vmlinuz-3.13.0-41-generic works corretly, as before (I am
working ander 3.13.0-41 now)

Best regards,
Alexander
