Hi Christopher,
Thank you for looking in to this.
 I was running a headless server so "apport" was a little more complex than most descriptions who make an assumption of Xserver. I have now installed ubuntu-desktop (gnome) in order to make things easier to report directly from that server.
I also couldn't run ubuntu-bug (package) as I was unsure which package was actually affected - possibly due to my lack of knowledge in the inner workings. It seemed like nouveau but I didn't want to make an incorrect assumption unless I was sure of where the issue existed and what was actually causing it.
Regards

crtlbreak, as per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/dimension-c521/drivers an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1.1.11). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

ctrlbreak,
You mentioned that you were running a headless server, however in your initial dmesg.log it says nouveau was loaded. A workaround for you will be to boot the kernel with the 'nomodeset' parameter (or otherwise somehow disable nouveau from being loaded). You won't get that annoying "i2c i2c-N: sendbytes: NAK bailout." message interrupting your work on the command line!

In addition, I would love it if you would continue this bug reporting procedure, so that a solution may be found.
