Bug Description
Without noticible cause the brightness of the screen of my laptop is no longer adjustable and stuck at the lowest level. Both the hotkey on my keyboard and the brightness submenu in the system settings no longer show any reaction to changes (i.e. key pressing and using the regulation bar in the menu).
The issue persists accross reboots which makes the main screen of my laptop unusable and it necessary to plug in an extra monitor!
I had this issue on an unknown version of Ubuntu < 14.10 and the installation of `indicator-
I could only fix the issue by rebooting and entering BIOS/EFI menu and using brightness hotkeys there.

Same happen with Ubuntu 14.04.3 64 bit, I had 14.04.2 x86 and worked fine with graphic controller "Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)" but when updated to a 64 bit due to notebook capabilities just did not worked...
