168c:0036 [Asus X751LA] Bluetooth not working

Bug Description

The default bluetooth app is not able to activate the bluetooth:
Network controller [0280]: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter [168c:0036] (rev 01)
 Subsystem: AzureWave Device [1a3b:2130]

I installed blueman, and through it I could switch on the bluetooth (at least it says it is on). However when I do a search it cannot detect any remote device. Although I set the device as visible, it doesn't show up when scanning with another bluetooth device. Hcitool seems to detect the local device:
hcitool dev
Devices:
 hci0 54:27:1E:51:63:DE

However, it does not detect remote devices (this was after I set my phone as discoverable):
sudo hcitool scan
Scanning ...

The kill list is clear:
sudo rfkill list

Luca Manunta, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 1400079

Just to advise, the package evince is a PDF viewer, among other formats -> https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Evince . Hence, it would have nothing to do with bluetooth.

affects: evince (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)
Changed in linux (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Incomplete

Luca, I looked lsusb output of another bug report you've made and it seems that USB device 13d3:3408 of the X751LA should be handled as AR3012:

Thanks Janne, I don't have access to the computer now. I'll be back next
week and follow up with your suggestions.
I'll keep you posted.
Regards.

I just noticed that that patch was actually related to this bug report:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1395465

So this has been fixed and should be arriving with 14.04.2.

Dear Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch),
I followed your instructions, can you please confirm that the correct information was submitted?

Dear Janne Heikkinen (janne-m-heikkinen),
are you suggesting me to just sit and wait till the kernel 3.14 is distributed? (I am currently running the 3.13.0)?

Many thanks to you both for your help, and I take the opportunity to wish you happy new year.
Luca
