Bug Description

Binary package hint: quodlibet-plugins

On Ubuntu Feisty, Quodlibet 0.24, python-musicbrainz2 installed.

Steps to reproduce
1- Install quodlibet and quodlibet-plugins
2- Start quodlibet
3- Music->Plugins
4- The Musicbrainz plugin does not show.

Clicking on "Show Errors" Button, it says:
"Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/share/quodlibet/plugins/songsmenu/brainz.py", line 4, in <module>
    import musicbrainz, os, gtk
ImportError: No module named musicbrainz"

Musicbrainz2 is installed, not musicbrainz.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release, especially with python-musicbrainz installed? Thanks in advance.

Installing python-musicbrainz makes this error go away, so this should be a dependency? Though there is also another package python-musicbrainz2 which does not help.

python-musicbrainz is a Suggested package. It should be promoted to a Dependency.

I don't know the application we are talking about, but I don't think it qualifies as a dependency (nor a recommend, now that they are installed by default) if it's just needed for a plugin.

The package is a set of plugins, and the plugins don't work without other packages installed. It's a dependency.

What about the other suggests - are they needed for some plugins too?
