"Allow access to location:" wording out of date

1. Go to System Settings > "Security & Privacy" > "Location".
2. Look at the label for the list of apps at the bottom.

What you see: "Allow access to location:"

What you should see: "Let apps access this location:"

Thanks Matthew, we are avoiding changing strings in rtm to not unvalidate translations but that should be fixed in trunk

I was going to do that change but let me ask for confirmation first.

The new version is a bit more verbose and likely to lead to truncated string in other locales

e.g in french translations would approximatively be
"Autoriser l'accès à l'emplacement
Laisser les applications accéder à cet emplacement"

The second one is going to be truncated

Should we take that into account in the decision to change the wording?

Labels should never be truncated: they should wrap to multiple lines if they need to, just like captions do. I know this is possible because the text in the "Notifications" screen wraps. If labels don't do that by default, please report a bug on the toolkit.

Therefore, this isn't a question of whether the label is too wide to fit on the screen. It's a question of which string provides the best tradeoff between brevity and specificity.

That question inevitably has different answers in different languages. In English, I think it's worthwhile to make the distinction between whether/how the *phone* collects information and whether *apps* can access it. Maybe in French, being that specific makes the string just too long. If so, the French translators might choose to be a little less detailed here. That doesn't mean the English string should change.

It might be a good idea to add a translator note to the second string, explaining that "this location" refers to the location that is configured in the previous setting.
