Bug Description

I did not wrote the bug in Question #255613 but I have similar problems.
If Xscreensaver starts, it will never come back to working stage.

Possible this is a different bug from coming from hibernate, but result is similar so it might be mixed effect.

Here is report from questions:

Just lost 2.0 TB hard drive of Alienware X51 that had Ubuntu 12.04. Replaced with 4.0 TB hard drive and installed Ubuntu 14.04. Set aside 20 GB of swap space. Left 2.0 TB unused. When keyboard and mouse have been idle for about 20 minutes, computer seems to hibernate. Will sometimes wake up, but it takes at least 10 minutes of periodically moving the mouse or pressing a key to make it wake up. Pressing power button once does not work either. Sometimes it won't wake up at all. Turned off all suspend, hibernate, screen dimming, etc. functions in Ubuntu System Settings. Don't mind the screen dimming, but downloads do not finish unless it's kept awake by using the keyboard or mouse every 5-10 minutes while it downloads.

The bug might be complex, and it least running Linux kernel affects its. With an old kernel, the bug is at least not so bad. There is only diffent bugs.

I have now added log files, even few times. And you should note that some of those are with kernel not activating the bug, those are for helping to find the reason.

I also need to add that now bug is effictive all the time, it has now coming in ramdon. In the begin it comes all the time.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.17 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I have now tried that noticed that is hard to crash for demostrating, it will only crash if you left computer alone. Also note that display problem is still just the same. Report number: 1380223.
I will also note that it was missing some firmware.
