Touchscreen on Sony Vaio Pro 13 no longer functioning

Bug Description

Following recent system updates on Ubuntu 14.04, the touchscreen on my Sony Vaio Pro 13 does not appear to function.

xinput returns:

    ↳ Sony Vaio Keys id=7 [slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Power Button id=8 [slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ USB Webcam id=10 [slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=11 [slave keyboard (3)]

whilst xinput test 2 gives no output at all.

Hi,

Many apologies for not reporting sooner, but the bug persisted for a few
weeks before rectifying itself. No idea what caused it or what fixed it,
but I can no longer replicate the problem.
