Bug Description

Hello there,

I've noticed that when I print images on my HP Photosmart 5520 in - Colour - High Resolution Photo ; that the images are dark - they lack the gloss of the images on the screen. This seems to be a long-standing issue of the HPILJ drivers - maybe the colour printing curves need to be tweeked for photos.

Thanks

Max

Hi Max,

Can you run command "hp-check" command in terminal and provide its output here.
Also let us know which linux distribution you are using to print to this printer.

Thanks,
Goutam

Hello there,

Enclose the output from hp-check command. I am not sure how acurate it is, because I know (for example) that I have SANE and that I have CUPS running just fine. Is this down to hp-check not understanding systemctl?

I am running Fedora 20 x64.

Thanks

Max

Hi Max,

Thank you for providing hp-check output. We will test your use case in
Fedora 20 and let you know our results.
In the mean time can you try installing hplip-3.14.6.run auto installer
package in your distribution. You can download the file from
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html and run command 'sh
hplip-3.14.6.run' in terminal.

After installation is complete. Delete any print queues of this printer in
system-config-printer and create a fresh print queue for this printer by
using command 'hp-setup'. Now try printing couple of images to the printer
from Image viewer application in High Resolution photo quality and let us
know if you are seeing the same behavior or any difference in the printed
images.

Thanks,
Goutam
