one interaction at a time, then freeze

Inkscape lets me manipulate one item, then freezes until I access the file menu or double-click on a tool (opens preferences) - at which time it usually allows for one more manipulation before locking up again.

Yup, pretty much the same thing. Very irritating, but crappifying my
computer seems to work
