Try removing the package update-manager-kde and then upgrading again.

I did exactly what you said and it still does not work...
"andy@andy-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get remove update-
[sudo] password for andy:

[sudo] password for andy:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package update"

This is what it said in terminal. Is there a way to do a remote session or
something with you to help me resolve this?

You neglected part of the package name - the manager-kde part. So you
want:

sudo apt-get remove update-manager-kde
