Bug Description

I have used 3 clients for file synchronization: Owncloud Client, Dropbox and Insync. Apparently the bug applies to all of the applications.

Within the last 2-3 months the icons for the the applications have started to disappear from the system tray after a reboot. The icons doesn't reappear when (re)launching the applications from dash or terminal. However if I run "killall owncloud; owncloud" the icon for owncloud (re)appears. The icons for Dropbox and Insync also (re)appears when using "killall" before launching.

Hi Andrea,
Yes it should be. I just tried to mark pre-released updates under
"Software and Updates" and did a upgrade. When I login after reboot
the problem persist. Insync is giving me the notification "It seems
that another insync app is currently running. Will quit now."

Best regards

Jonas

Mh, that looks another issue then... Probably related to indicator-application.
Is any application indicator running there?
Try to run:
  initctl start indicator-application

Or (if it was running)
 initctl restart indicator-application

Hi Marco
I tried:
jonas@jonas-XPS13:~$ initctl restart indicator-application
indicator-application start/running, process 4617
jonas@jonas-XPS13:~$

and restarted but unfortunately nothing appears to have changed.

Hi Marco,
Ok when I turn on my laptop this morning suddenly all the icons

I have the same thing and I'm running kubuntu 14.10 (although I also had it when I was running 14.04.)
When I try to do the initctl mentioned above I get this:

initctl: Unknown job: indicator-application

I also noticed that it appears that a lot of my session is pre-loaded before I login. If I login to the command line I have a lot of processes running, even though I have not logged into the GUI.
