I'm guessing it may be a gtk 3.12 thing? Since it's the first release where gnome software became sort of the standard way for gnome to install it's applications. Perhaps there is some config somewhere that needs to be changed to reflect the distro specific software center.

The question is: What should be opened?
I highly doubt we want the software-center, but more likely like a file opener to look for it manually.

Easiest solution is to just remove the button if we can learn what package

id like to help with this but it seems we might have to patch gtk+3.0, how do you deploy OS patches? is there already a branch of gtk+ from which I should work?

Here I add the patch to Gtk+3.0

The patch removes the button and fix an missing icon in the dialog.

@santileortiz
That's handled by our package engineer ricotz.

So you get the source

$ apt-get source gtk+3.0

and make a patch with diff.

Most of the infrastructure is handled in launchpad, but other by people.

This is the second version of the patch.
I deleted more code, not the icon and the "No applications found" label is gone.

So I hope this should be a working solution for gtk3.14
