Bug Description

With a parallel Samsung ML-4500 series printer, plugged in to a Dell Dimension 1100, running up-to-date feisty, when I try to print the first time, data is sent, and the printer data light flashes, but nothing further happens and the print queue doesn't change. From then until the next restart, the printer light continues to flash, and if I try to uninstall and reinstall the driver within the same session as a print attempt, lpt1 no longer shows as an option.
The port is set to EPP from the bios.

Can you also attach your CUPS error_log after a print attempt as described here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10?

I'm afraid I don't know - in the end, I threw the printer out.
