Due to a policy change (https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-motu/2007-November/002684.html) I set the status to 'Triaged'. Set it back to 'In Progress' once you have a source package up for review.

Can you link to the source package?

Latest version (2.4.0) is out with per process i/o support (depends on bug# 157191 though)

I hope that's what you were looking for...

I'd like to have this as well. What needs to happen to make this available? Maybe I can help, if I know what's blocking this.

Same here. As you can see I asked the same question almost 6 months ago and haven't gotten any response. It also sounds like based on gmayer's comments on 12-26 (almost a year ago!!!) that the real issue was that taskstats were not enabled and perhaps Simon interpreted all this as a bug in collectl since it couldn't report them.

Sorry I unassigned this bug since I don't have time to take care of this issue.

can you say more about what the bug is? I can't tell from the
description and it may very well be something that's been fixed in later
releases

Could you please answer my question about what the bug is (see my previous reply)? I can't fix it if I don't know what the problem really is.

From what I can tell both bug# 157191 has been addressed and there is a package for "collectd" (same as collectl) in the hardy repositories so I think this bug should be closed now. I think the original bug was about no package existing for it which is no longer the case.

collectd is a different tool

Oh, you're right, my bad. They had such similar descriptions and names that I thought they're the same projects...

turns out there is a lot of similarity. I guess great minds think
alike, but as far as I know these were developed independently and as
far as collectl is concerned, that's based on the very successful Tru64
Unix tool - collect.

Still doesn't appear to be a good problem description of what is blocking this?

Since simon logged the bug, didn't explain what the bug was and then said he didn't have time to address it, my vote would be to mark this closed. collectl (different from collectd) has had a number of releases since this was even submitted.

Mark just told me that collectl is probably easy to package as it does not require compiling or anything and is a perl project.

I personally don't have time for any work on this. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PackagingGuide/Complete and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MOTU/Videos will probably help with packaging this.

I try to get the package into debian for some time now, no success so far on mentors. Today I created my own ppa archive and you can get collectl packages from there:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/aakef/ppa/ubuntu lucid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/aakef/ppa/ubuntu lucid main
