Bug Description

My PCMCIA wireless NIC which works fine on the Feisty Live CD, does not light up or work in Gutsy Tribe 4 or 5. The device wlan0 also does not exist.

The driver on feisty is acx111. I will provide any further information needed.

Aside from this, Gutsy is looking great.

do you have installed linux-restricted-modules-generic, and if so, what happens when you manually load the "acx" module from command line:

user@machine:~$ sudo modprobe acx

you can check if the card is detected by executing the dmesg command, and look at the last lines.

I haven't installed anything, I'm just running the live CD and have no internet connection without wireless. Can I download this package from somewhere?

'sudo modprobe acx' gives the output
FATAL: Error inserting acx (/lib/modules/2.6.22-10-generic/ubuntu/wireless/acx/acx.ko): Invalid argument

The last line of dmesg mentions my mouse, not a wireless device. But looking back through the output, I did notice these lines;

acx: Loaded combined PCI/USB driver, firmware_ver=default

Thanks for your time Basilio,

Jarlath

This package comes with the live CD so yes, when I boot the live CD, this package is installed.

I tried running

sudo modprobe acx

and got the error;
FATAL: Error inserting acx (/lib/modules/2.6.22-10-generic/ubuntu/wireless/acx/acx.ko): Invalid argument

Perhaps it's a problem with PCMCIA?
