Thanks for your report. However, Ubuntu 12.10 is an end of life version and lo longer supported, so I close it.

Can't help wondering why you tried to upgrade to 12.10 instead of 14.04.

Good idea, is possible migrate from 12.04 to 14.04 without intermediate
step ? Could you check this option if is available ?

Indeed it is. You should never skip an LTS (12.04, 14.04, etc.), but it's quite ok to go from one LTS directly to next LTS.
