Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

... [GUTSY] firefox crashed

... firefox crashes when opening preferences, print or download dialog

I get a hard crash like this when I click on a file that will be downloaded, opening the preferences dialog, or the print dialog. It may happen in other places, but I haven't tested them. The new windows that's created is blank, and the main windows goes numb. The backtrace says it's and invalid pointer sometimes, others a double free or corruption.

Extracted from symbolized stacktrace; crash generated when using libredmond95.so gtk2-engine:

I'd like to confirm this. Not only does it crash when opening Preferences, Download, and Print, but it also crashes when I'm trying to bookmark a page. The only time i don't crash on me is when I open the Organize Bookmarks... window.

Thank you Brian Jedsen for submitting this report.

Could you please obtain another retrace with all the debug symbols
installed; if you check the backtrace you attached, you'll see lot of
"no debugging symbols found". Another option is to upload the crash
report that probably was generated during the crash and that should be
located at /var/crash/ to [2], so we will be able to retrace it.

Please indicate which extensions/plugins do you have enabled; and if
this crash is reproducible describe an stpe to step test case that
leads to it (it is very important for us to have a test case for each
crash).

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Thanks in advance.

My backtrace follows, I have colorful tabs enable, and I disabled ubufox (to see if that was causing the problem).

Thank you all for your reports.

Christoph Sassenberg, It seems that the crash you are having from the
retrace you posted at [1] is related to our master bug #129007 [2].

Please Brian Jedsen and muj0, can you get a backtrace by following the
hints I've already posted in [3].

Could you (if possible all of you) indicate what theme were you using
when firefox crashed?

Thank you in advance.

H. Montoliu

Would like to confirm this bug. Using Gutsy Tribe 5, Compiz Fusion. Firefox works fine unless Preferences is opened, then it either locks up or immediately closes. Seems to be independent of either theme used or Compiz running.
