Installation on an ASUS UX301L gone wrong

I have followed the instructions to install ubuntu alongside windows8.1. All went fine up to when the actual installation has begun. I would prefer to keep windows only becouse of all powerpoint presentation I unfortunately have.... and libreoffice is not yet able to cope with them.
The log file should have been added automatically, I guess, since I am using the web form launched automatically after the crash.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. I have checked the iso, and also
controlled the usb drive. Everything looks fine and indeed I can use Ubuntu
live from the USB. I think that the problem is the fact that my computer
has solid state disks, two disks in fact, that are available to Win as C:
and D. I wanted to use the second disk for Linux, so a reformatted it, (now
windows does not see it any more!), the Ubuntu installation tools sees it
instead all right, it allows to create exfs4 partitions (/ and /home) , but
then it stops when running grub-install /dev/sda. I does not give me the
option to "install alongside othe operating systems", so I had to prepare
the partitions myself.

I tried also to free some space in the first drive (c:OS in win) and put
there a /boot partition. Same error. I friend of mine has installed Linux
on an identical computer, zapping out windows. So I assume that the problem
is the strange way the disk is set up. I was able to run ubuntu live and I
am annexing the snapshot of the disk organization, as seen by linux.

If I can get any help I'd happy!

Eventually I had to zap out windows and install ubuntu stand alone. I must say that the instruction to to dual boot with win8 are incomplete, but this probably is linked to the many different systems that are around that makes it difficult to provide a general recipe.

I was not able to set up the partitions myself, so I had to let the installer do it for me. The only good news is that Ubuntu seems to work very fine on this computer (so far).
