Bug Description

There are several errors apparently related to source packages.
The message is:
'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/it.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise_restricted_i18n_Translation-en, E:L'elenco dei pacchetti o il file di stato non può essere letto o aperto.'

In addition I cannot launch some application (e.g. dropbox).

I tried an apt-get through the terminal (as suggested by a permanent message of error in the toolbar) trying to verify unresolved dependences among the packages, but it doesn't seem possible to verify or to download any packages.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your bug report it seems that you are experiencing bug 346386. This issue happens when you have tried to update your package information when you are a network that didn't return the right files. This issue can be cleaned up by using the following commands in a terminal:

1.) sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/*
2.) sudo apt-get update

Thanks and good luck!

Hi,
first thanks for your kind reply. Unfortunately the suggested solution is
not working. I'm gonna sharing the screen capture of what happened after I
put 1) and 2) in the command line.
Waiting for your kind reply.
