Keymap compilation failure / xmodmap remappings not working

Typing impossible in certain configurations, and keyboard remappings not respected.

See upstream reports, use eg. a NoMachine NX remote viewer or try using xmodmap to remap " or @ characters.

[Regression Potential]
The patch touches keyboard handling code under X.

There are two upstream bugs related to key handling:

Those require libxkbcommon >= 0.4.0 that was uploaded to trusty only a week before the release, so qtbase upload wasn't possible before release. The patch has now been used in utopic for two weeks without seeing regressions on touch or desktop, so SRU would be beneficial since it affects eg. Qt Creator users.

Accepted qtbase-opensource-src into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtbase-opensource-src/5.2.1+dfsg-1ubuntu14.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

I retested this now from -proposed on 14.04, and it continues to work fine. xmodmap changes are respected with the update.

The verification of the Stable Release Update for qtbase-opensource-src has completed successfully and the package has now been released to -updates. Subsequently, the Ubuntu Stable Release Updates Team is being unsubscribed and will not receive messages about this bug report.
