Bug Description

Binary package hint: usplash

I just built a new system. Usplash doesn't ever show up. I have to wait untill GDM loads before my monitor gets a signal. I'm running an Nvidia 8600gt. Could this be because the nvidia framebuffer drivers dont' work with this card? In gentoo i could see their boot splash but I needed to run the vesa framebuffer driver.

This happens when running the 64-bit version of Feisty or Gutsy.

Ah it is related to #116103. However using vga=795 resulted in usplash not being centered on my screen. vga=792 worked for me. (even though I run 1280x1024 normally in x.org). Kinda strange. Some how usplash needs to get and set the proper vga= setting during install.

Corey Woodworth : A known workaround is to add vga=795 or vga=792 to the grub boot line.
