Bug Description
I've just installed Feisty Fawn AMD64 version on my new box.
There are a few messages from Grub and the kernel, and the X server runs fine,
but whenever the console should appear (during boot and shutdown), my monitor
switches off with "no signal".
Also, if you choose "console login" from the X login screen, the display also disappears.
Here's some info:
CPU: 4800+ dual-core AMD
GPU: NVidia 8500
Motherboard: Gigabyte
Screen: Benq 19" wide LCD, 1440x900

Peter:
If you boot with the additional
vga=795
option does a "console login" from the X login screen work?
