Compaq 866 compatibility

Ubuntu 7.04 is not compatibile with a Compaq 866 , i can't lunch the live CD, I have 256 Mo of RAM momory...
I cant upgrade my ubuntu 6.10

I think Ubuntu 7.04 is not compatible with the hard drive western digital 700 because my hard drive is not detected ie the installation. (i have used the alternate CD)

Ubuntu 7.04 n'est pas compatible avec un PC Compaq 866 (je crois que le problème vient du disque dur). je ne peux pas mettre à jour ubuntu 6.10, j'ai 256 Mo de mémoire Ram et j'ai déjà essayer de mettre à jour mon Ubuntu à partir du gestionnaire de mise à jour. la mise à jour démarre mais lorsqu'elle arrive à l'étape du redémarrage, l'ordinateur ne peut pas redémarrer...
Je ne peux pas démarrer mon ordinateur avec un live CD 7.04, pourtant la version 6.10 live CD démarre sans aucun problème...
J'ai aussi essayer le Alternate CD, mais lorsque j'arrive à l'étape du détection des disque mon disque dur n'est pas détecté et le message suivant s'affiche "veillez choisir un pilote du disque dure ..." il n'y a pas de western digital, et j'ai tenté tous les pilote quio commence par un "w" mais aucun ne marche...

Please try using an alternate CD (that's the same but with a text installer instead of loading Ubuntu Live). If it works with it the problem is probably just that your system hasn't enough resources for the Live mode.

Also, if what you want to do is upgrade a previous Ubuntu installation, why don't you just make use of update-manager?

I have used the alternate CD , but i can't install ubuntu 7.04

Please, fix that bug for ubuntu 7.10...
until the installation, (7.04) i have this message :
"there no hard drive in this computer , continue without hard drive?" i can't install or run a live CD of ubuntu 7.04.
my hard drive is a western digital 700 and it's running without problem on a ubuntu 6.10

voilà mon problème :
Pendant l'installation de ubuntu 7.04 j'ai ce message :
"pas de disque détecté continuer sans disque dur?" et il est impossible de continuer, pourtant le disque dur est branché et fonctionne sans problème avec ubuntu 6.10 et windows XP
donc ubuntu 7.04 n'est pas compatible avec mon disque dur...

ouhti - Can you please load the live CD again, open up a terminal and then run 'lspci'. This should output a list of the hardware which you can add to this bug.
