Does this also happen if you issue sudo shutdown from a terminal?

happen to 12.04.

Vladdy, as per http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=20&m=K8N4-E&os=&hashedid=0aVctqE4FgFmkcB2 an update to your BIOS is available (1006). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Thank you for your understanding.

hi, Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch) this is the output of command that you've asked:
ASUS K8N4-E ACPI BIOS Revision 1004
10/04/2005

I didn't flush my BIOS though I actually never did it, so I don't wanna mess it up. I downloaded files for my BIOS update .bin and .exe and when I bought this computer long time ago with WinXp on it, now it's only Ubuntu there and the tutorial link that you sent doesn't highly recommend it using Wine for the BIOS update. So I just leave it as it is, don't wanna risk. Anyways I didn't even upgraded with some incompatible hardware so it require and update or some.

With Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Log Out option worked perfectly fine, but after an upgrade to 14.04 it doesn't function that much, it just looks like it doesn't respond like waiting for something about 30 sec. and starts slowly to log out... maybe that because of an upgrade? Lots of people get errors after an upgrade rather than clean/fresh install. Because everything else is working perfectly fine.
Thanks for helping anyways.

Though maybe I'll try to create repairdisk on some of my friends Windows then I'll notify a result if it do anything.

thank you all for helping me to solve this out but as I thought it's something that happens during an upgrade, I installed gnome-shell and I'm able to log out freely also I did log out from guest session using Unity. So it's just something that happen to my account during an upgrade, I assume.

So, how do you fix the logout behaviour of Unity in your non-guest account? Using gnome-panel isn't exactly a fix.
