Conflict between Airplane mode and Firewall

Airplane mode will not turn off if changes are made to the firewall settings while airplane mode is enabled. Has happened twice, could be something else.

One stupid question :$ How can I set the airplane mode? I don't see in my Ubuntu.

System settings then network settings and there is a toggle on the top of the window. It comes in handy every once in a while! Thanks for taking the time to respond. Also that is for Ubuntu 12.
