bpython is unusable as dh_python3 rewrites the python2 package shebang to use python3

I fired up bpython and tried to import a python 2 only module. It failed. I was surprised to see:
$ bpython --version
bpython version 0.12 on top of Python 3.4.0
(C) 2008-2012 Bob Farrell, Andreas Stuehrk et al. See AUTHORS for detail.
$ head -n 1 /usr/bin/bpython
#! /usr/bin/python3
