Thank you for the bug report. This has got to do with a platform issue where if the phone is in deep sleep (when you lock the screen) etc, it does not ring the alarm. There is already a MP out there to fix the issue at https://code.launchpad.net/~thomas-voss/platform-api/hw-alarms-api/+merge/210592. Waiting on that to merge.

FYI: Please do not use the UT as your primary alarm device until we deem the feature stable. This is still under heavy development. Thanks.

Also noticed the alert doesn't work on both the timer function and the alarm function. Even if the app is open and the clock app is actively on display.

@Julien, the timer function alert has been postponed since on talking to Bill Filler, I was told that the SDK Alarms API should be the one also triggering the snap notification when the timer is complete. This use case however was not planned earlier on. As for the alarms alert, we are waiting on charles's branch to land to trigger the snap notification. When that lands, this bug is fixed.

Current functionality is the alarm triggers and plays the sound, however the screen does not turn on, and the notification is not shown over the greeter. User needs to press power, open the greeter, then dismiss the notification

Just upgraded my Nexus 4 to Ubuntu 14.10 ver. 71, but the Alarm function doesn't work yet when the phone is locked (black screen and in stand by, if this is the correct definition).
I have tried a couple of times, but no way to hear the phone ringing.
How to reproduce it?
1) set an alarm to ring in 10 minutes
2) leave the phone on the table (the phone will lock because you don't use it)
3) wait for the alarm sound but ... nothing
4) unlock the phone, and for a second, you can see the clock that still shows the time of 10 minute in the past.

It's like if the entire Ubuntu OS goes in stand by when the phone is locked. But obviously some vital services, like the clock, should not be paused.

I only get very short "bursts" of the alarm sound when the screen is sleeping.

It is only working after I activated the phone but then I don't need the alarm anymore. :(

I did a factory reset and it works now. (There was still a lot of clutter from the 13.10 install)
