Bug Description
Mutter should place windows in the center of the screen by default, but it doesn't (now way to set).
In compiz this is done by "place windows" plugin, but no such luck in mutter.
Can "place windows" be added to mutter, too?

no, by default mutter stacks windows by slightly offsetting each new window. Also window placement in General can be a little messy since it's sometimes handled by the app and the rest of the time WM /bugs.launchpad .net/bugs/ 1298263 /bugs.launchpad .net/ubuntu/ +source/ mutter/ +bug/1298263/ +subscriptions

compiz plugins won't work in mutter, it is possible to write mutter plugins but there are not many around. The only one I know if shellscape.
