Bug Description
I updated to the mythbuntu 28.2 theme today as it was recently released to fix another issue with the 27.1 theme, but I'm noticing a few new issues with the new theme.
1. The EPG does not display the channel name/num/callsign based on what's set in the TV Settings > General > Preferred Channel Format, it kind of randomly displays either the channel number twice for one channel or sometimes a channel number and callsign or name... I can't figure out why certain channels would be different?
2. The settings screen(s) are no longer black/white like the rest of the theme, they appear to be the brown Terra screens; not sure if this was intentional or meant to be this way but wanted to call it out.

Attached is a screen shot of what I see. I have callsign as my preferred channel format in the TV Settings > General. My callsigns are essentially the channum + name... I have no idea how the guide is showing two different views.
An example of my channel's table:
name channum callsign:
FS1HD 534 534 FS1HD
VSHD 535 535 VSHD
NFLHD 536 536 NFLHD
YESHDNY 537 537 YESHDNY
BIG10HD 538 538 BIG10HD
MTVHD 539 539 MTVHD
FSPHD 540 540 FSPHD

That is very odd. Looking at the code, that box is filled with
"%CHANNELNUMBER
So it should have 2 lines, the first has the channel number, the second has the callsign.
It would appear that in your database, some of your channels have a combination of "Channel Number + Callsign" and some have just "Channel Number" in the callsign column.
Can you check to see if that is the case? You can check this in mythweb at
Tim (clueo8) wrote : Re: [Bug 1296375] Re: Mythbuntu 28.2 Theme Issues | #4 |
All my callsigns are channum+name in the DB. I think what may be happening is the second half of my callsign is getting truncated when viewed in the guide. Shouldn't this area of the guide follow the preferred channel format in the tv settings? It appears you're saying it's hard coded to always be number + callsign.
Thank you for all the help by the way, with this ticket and the other one which pushed this theme update out. I really appreciate it.

I'm also noticing that Mythzoneminder is now only taking up a small portion (top left) of the screen rather then the entire screen. This is occurring in all 3 ZoneMinder options (Show Console, Show Live View, and Show Events). See attached.

Ok, so then your callsigns are wrong. Callsigns shouldn't be channum+name, they should be the callsign (which would be the local station name). For example, the local NBC channel here is channel 8 with the callsign "KGW". So the guide shows two things there. Channel number and callsign.
It sounds like I've got it set the way you are expecting to see it, but that you've got the wrong info in there. I've attached a screenshot that shows what it looks like for me.
For mythzoneminder, looks like it's still set to 720p, not sure why it didn't get converted to 1080p. I don't use mythzoneminder, but let me see if I can fix it and get something for you to test.
Tim (clueo8) wrote : | #7 |
I thought I read on the mailing list that callsigns were user editable. Can you point me to the file which contains this and I can edit it to just be callsign?
FYI, my tv is only 720p if that means anything for your comment about 1080p and myth zoneminder...

You want to change line 181 of ~/.mythtv/
to this
Do note though that you'll have to make this change every time there is a theme update.
For the zoneminder issue, it doesn't matter if your screen is 1080p or 720p, or 480i, it should look right on any 16:9 resolution. My comment was more just documenting what I thought it was. Can you replace ~/.mythtv/

Is it true that the channel display area of the guide was configurable via the TV Settings for version 27.1 of this theme? For example, What if someone only wanted to display the channel number in the guide (and no callsign)? With the new theme they are stuck with number and callsign. I understand my callsigns aren't ideal but would it be possible to allow this area to act like it did previously and pull the preferred channel format from the tv settings > general?
I will try the zoneminder file and let you know.
Thanks

The zoneminder file you sent resolves that issues. Question, what's the different between the ~/.mythtv/
Thomas Mashos (tgm4883) wrote : Re: [Mythbuntu-bugs] [Bug 1296375] Re: Mythbuntu 28.2 Theme Issues | #11 |
The difference between those two locations is that the one in /usr is
system wide (and thus not writable by the user), and the one in ~/ is
only for that user (and obviously writable by that user). When you use
the theme downloader in mythtv, it downloads to ~/
I'll go ahead and commit the zoneminder fix to the github repo.
It looks like it might* have been configurable in v27 of the theme.
I'll have to do some more testing to see if we can do that.
*There is no <template> in the v27 of the theme, so I'm not sure what
it defaults to
Thanks,

I tried looking into the v27 theme as well, did not see a template nor can I tell how it's populating that text area.
I'm noticing another issue when I go to Setup > Screen Setup Wizards. Mythfrontend is crashing when going to this with the new v28 theme. Mythfrontend log only shows the following when selecting this menu item and then crashes:
Mar 24 12:53:50 Basement mythfrontend.real: mythfrontend[1692]: I CoreContext mythmainwindow.
Mar 24 12:53:50 Basement mythfrontend.real: mythfrontend[1692]: N CoreContext mythmainwindow.
Mar 24 12:53:50 Basement mythfrontend.real: mythfrontend[1692]: I CoreContext mythudplistener

Thanks for the bug report. Can you take a screenshot of the first issue?
The second issue is by design. There were some issues with being able to view the setting screens. I can ask the dev again why we had to make those changes if you want.
