Hello! Thanks for filing a bug. Can you please run this command and make rhythmbox crash, and then attatch the output?
G_DEBUG=fatal_criticals rhythmbox

And please follow the steps in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind too.

And to make sure it's not a GStreamer-bug, please run this command:
gst-launch-0.10 playbin uri="file:///path/to/file"
and attach it's output.

Now to some questions. What file format is the file in? (if it's legal, please attach the file) Can you play it in other players (Totem, VLC, XMMS)? How long does it play before it starts to stutter? When does it crash? Does it happen when any thoer file is playing?

Can you clarify the sentence "It's first crash on playing it," please?

Thank you!

Generally, bug not in crash, because player crashed only one time of all time i use it. It's explains "It's first crash on playing it,".
Bug in stutter i thing, and rhythmbox stutters only on that song. gst-launch-0.10 playbin plays song absolutely normal.
Stutter starts right in the begining of the song, and can totally freeze playback. File format is .m4a Output in attachment, and song in attachment too.

Hi! Try to install this package, or newer: gstreamer0.8-faad, and see if you can play the file. The stutter starts right in the beginning, right? What happens after that? does it stop, or continue to stutter to the end? Have you been able to play the file previously (in what version?)?

gstreamer0.8 has been replaced with 0.10 in dapper, that package is of no use

Yes stutter starts in the beginning, then if not try to seek it plays till
the end with strutter, but if seek it freeze and starts to strutter very
small piece of song. This file played normally in 0.10 version.

Hi. I think we should forget about the crash a little, since you (or anyone else) haven't been able to repeat it. The stuttering, however, is very confusing. Can you try to fire up the gutsy-live cd and see if it stutters there too? According to fellow bug triagers, they haven't been able to reproduce the stuttering either on gutsy.

If it's very important that you are able to play it, you might want to look into converting it to mp3 or ogg (Soundconverter, and other).

Could you describe easy steps to trigger the issue?

Anton Ivanov (neg) wrote :

It's easy. Simply run rhythmbox, type in search box 'sappy' then start
playingg bugy file, if it not stutters, start playing something else and
then buggy file(you can don't wait till the end of normal file), bug will
appear 100%.

G_DEBUG=fatal_criticals rhythmbox gives no log whatsoever, player start fine. I don't know if i executed the gst-launch-0.10 playbin u... thing correctly but i still attached the log. This test file plays well in Totem & VLC. You can get rhythmbox play m4a files fine if you turn "use crossfading backend" off but that causes often cracling in sound ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/mandriva/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/116990 )

urho: the problem with m4a and crossfader is bug 138728 (m4a files playback choppy with crossfading on) and has been reported to and confirmed by upstream.

Антон Иванов: can you please advise if you have crossfading enabled (Edit -> Preferences -> Playback)? From the trace you attached it looks like you have (I see crossfade=-1). If you were indeed using crossfading, can you please test with crossfading disabled?

Yes, it works fine without crossfade
