Bug Description

Problem: Synaptic does not allow for the setting of custom mirrors.

Situation: My preferred mirror has limited access, with only connections of my ISP accepted. It probably isn't suitable for inclusion in the distributed list because of this. However, since downloads from there are not counted towards bandwidth limits, it is nice to be able to use this.

Solution: Manually changing the sources.list is not something for newbies, so allowing custom mirrors to be set via synaptic would be a useful feature.

I'd like to add that the Software Sources tool registers all the custom archive mirror entries as 3rd-party repositories, and also that the dist-upgrader utility fails spectacularly at using a custom mirror for upgrades. This is especially troublesome in the case of name-based VirtualHosts, because then a /etc/hosts entry to redirect archive.ubuntu.com to the specific server would not be enough to cover it.
