Bug Description
this happened twice. when i click on shutdown it doest do so. it doesnt restart even when clicked on the restart button, its not a regular affair. i am using ubuntu 12.04 LTS for one and a half year. and i dont have root authorization so it doesnt let me use halt on commandline.

Hey Rabindra, Can you fetch syslog or message logs as you try to click on shutdown and restart.
in case you are need root access for getting them, try sudo x-terminal-emulator and you would have the root access temporarily and let me pass on the logs.
