Bug Description

sometimes it's all ok. Other times ubuntu does not recognise the sound card so there is no sound at all. I reboot the system and sometimes sound card is recognised (so i have sound) and fewer times does not -again- recognise the sound card (so I have not sound at all) and I have to reboot again and again untill somehow(??) the sound card is recognised.

did it occur after you set channel mode from 2ch to 6ch and reboot ?

Simple mixer control 'Channel Mode',0
  Capabilities: enum
  Items: '2ch' '4ch' '6ch'
  Item0: '2ch'

the driver bootup with 2ch be default and pulseaudio cannot use the saved surround51 profile

All the sound connections to my computer are as were before. I didn't touch
anything there. So there was no explanation for no sound at all.
Thanks for your concern.

The problem came up again. No matter what I have done.
Is there anything else to try?
Instead of my sound card at the "audio adjustments" it says "virtual audio
output"
