Bug Description
# Nvidia Proprietary driver (any version from my testing) removes the transparent rectangle behind the text on desktop icons and also makes the text bold.
This is how the text appears after installing Nvidia Proprietary Drivers:

And this is how they should be shown***:

***This image also contains a bug found on Bug 1271891, but shows the correct Text style and proper semi transparent rectangle.

Reverting to the Open Source Nvidia Driver does not correct the problem, it will stay permanently like that. Reseting XFCE4 to it's defaults will also make no effect.
Changed in xfdesktop4 (Ubuntu): | |

The desktop labels are meant to be full transparent and the font is bold to make the text readable on most backgrounds. This appearance is set by the default Xubuntu theme "Greybird".
However, due to bug 1270261 the desktop elements might look different (not properly themed like seen in the 2nd screenshot).
