Bug Description

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install digiKam and proceed through the first-run wizard.
2. Enter digiKam configuration, and enter MySQL database connection details.
3. Press "Check DB Connection."

Expected result:

digiKam attempts to connect to the specified database.

Actual result:

"Database connection test was not successful. Error was: Driver not loaded Driver not loaded"

Running from the terminal, the following messages are output when the button is pressed:

QSqlDatabase: QMYSQL driver not loaded
QSqlDatabase: available drivers: QSQLITE

I was able to fix this problem by installing package "libqt4-sql-mysql" and restarting digiKam. Possibly this package should be considered a dependency, or at least a recommendation, or perhaps digiKam could indicate which package needs to be installed in this situation.

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more effective debugging.

Thanks!

(Point being that digikam should not offer this option unless the qmysql backend actually is available).

This bug was fixed in the package digikam - 4:3.5.0-0ubuntu6

---------------
digikam (4:3.5.0-0ubuntu6) trusty; urgency=low

  * Digikam suggests libqt4-sql-mysql (this has no actual user facing impact
even though it is the correct relationship packaging-wise) LP: #1270389

Same issue is present with Ubuntu 18.04.

Package libqt5sql5-mysql needs to be installed.
