shotwell crashes while browsing photos in a folder

Shotwell crashes while browsing photos in a folder, launching it from terminal, when it crashes I read the following error:

Shotwell crashes when started, while writing metadata to files during startup. I run ubuntu 13.10 and get the same error msg. Attached are gbd log files.
