Thank you for reporting this bug.... confirming this issue. My first upgrade got signature error. Retry failed to download the files. However this doesn't seem to be a bug of the msttcorefonts script, rather, it's a sourceforge issue since I (we) can't download the .exe files from there. 3rd attempt successfully downloaded the fonts.

I have tried a large number of times to get the script to work through a package. I'm on Breezy. I can download the files from sourceforge using a download manager but the script halts on an error 1 each time I install a package. The output in the terminal says a time-out when connecting to the server. It tries a number of them then gives up, then tries to recover and gives up again. I tried to 'purge' the package but it tried to install again instead and again timed out.

I have the exact problem also. Would appreciate greatly being made aware of a fix?

So I used synaptic to install msttcorefonts and now whenever i install a package or update apt tries to get font files from a number of servers and timesout on all of them. If i try to connect to the files through firefox I can download them fine. I now cannot install nor remove msttcorefonts.

This issue is annoying and also is now preventing me from installing another .deb file, which complains of dependency problems, even though all are satisfied.

Attached is output from sudo apt-get upgrade

Same here with Xubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon. It shows up when "sudo apt-get upgrade" is issued. Tried remove, purge, -f install, same error. Any fixes?

My machine has stopped trying to connect to sourceforge and dl the fonts, I assume it is fixed but haven't had the gutsy to test by installing or removing it again in case it starts the problem anew! I did mess with the install scripts for msttcorefonts to try to skip the DL from sourceforge servers, this didn't seem to work so I restored them to their original state and left it, NOW as I said earlier problem seems to be fixed!

On the ubuntu forum someone posted a fix for this. It involves editing the script to alter the wget line to a shorter one. Sorry at the moment I don't have access to get the details, so I will get the link and post it later.
