weather indicator crashes when clicking on apply to confirm a location, therefore I am unable to use it

The applet starts fine, but when adding a location, I am able to select my city, choose a label for it, but after that the review information dialog comes next and I cannot apply that. When clicking apply, it crashes and I get an error notification from ubuntu. It's really nasty as I cannot add a location and therefore I can only see the logo, no weather info, rendering it useless :(

I have the same symptoms as the OP. A look at the log gave me this:

It looks like there was a problem reaching the URL. Trying to reach it through the browser gave a 404.

You are using an extremely old version of Weather Indicator, update to the newest version 13.8.0, available from the downloads section here: https://launchpad.net/weather-indicator/2.0/13.8.0

The PPA hasn't been rebuilt for Trusty, and now that Trusty is out we have an LTS version with a busted weather indicator.
