Bug Description
I see version check was turned on by default in 2.1.6. Unfortunately it crashes Perl on CentOS 5.10:
$ innobackupex --throttle=10 --no-timestamp --incremental --incremental-
[...]

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

It's most likely a Perl or DBD::MySQL bug. Can you get a gdb backtrace from the core file?
