Bug Description

Impossible to install KEPub output plugin 2.2.12 on Calibre 1.11 from the extensions menu.

Steps to reproduce:
- open extensions menu in Calibre
- select KEPUB Output plugin
- click on install
- restart Calibre
- go to extensions menu : the plugin is still in not installed list, isn't in installed list.

Please provide a full debug log reproducing the issue. Also, is this a new install or an upgrade. If upgrade, what version is installed right now?

Sorry for taking so much time to add details.

First I just want to mention that in the meantime Calibre 1.12 went out, but the issue is still there.

I have this problem on my two MacOSX 10.9 computers.
- The first was already running a working copy of the plugin on Calibre 10.9 and 10.10. The KEPub plugin disappeared from the installed list after restarting after upgrade to Calibre 1.11.
- On the second computer, I did a fresh install of Calibre 1.11

I have noticed two strange things:
- The first is that when installing, Calibre says the extension is correctly installed, and it even shows in the "Installed" section. Then when restarting, the extension disappears from the installed section and is again visible in the "not installed" section. In the directory ~/Library/Preferences/calibre, the extension zip file is there.
- I noticed the second on the freshly installed computer. My Mac is localized in French, and after installing the extension, the zip file was not "KePub Output.zip" as it used to be, but instead it was localized in French (Fichier de sortie KePub.zip). I tried to rename the file with the original name, but no success. Also note that on the upgraded version computer, I didn't try to re-install the extension so the extension file is still called "KePub Output.zip".

I've joined two logs I've done by restarting Calibre in debug mode:
- The first is the KEpub output extension install log
- The second is the log while restarting Calibre after installation of the KEPub output extension

According to the install log you posted, the plugin was successfully installed. According to the startup log you posted, calibre started correctly after the installation.

I set my calibre language to French and I was able to see that the plugin installs with the translated name. This is a bug and will be resolved, but it is very low priority since everything functioned properly: the plugin was in the list of installed plugins, the plugin remained installed after many restarts of calibre, conversion options could be set, and books could be converted.

Thanks for the follow-up but that doesn't explain why the plugin doesn't appear as installed when restarting Calibre.
What can I do to troubleshoot this ?

I've noticed that the format kepub is available in the output file types in the conversion tool.
So I've launch the conversion from ePub to KePub of a book.

It failed with the log attached.

Ahh, that's related to a different bug. You'll need to wait for the next calibre release.

oops, sorry I've juste noticed the answer after reporting a new bug: Bug #1255081

I guess you can set it as duplicate.

Thanks
