Bug Description

I'm back on 13.04 with the latest nvidia drivers and my boot times are normal but when I upgraded to 13.10 and 14.04 my boot times were around 1 minute using nvidia drivers. I install 3.12.031200 in 13.04 and my boot times were around 1 minute again so I have deduced taht the 3.12 kernels and the latest nvidia drivers aren't playing nice with each other.

WORKAROUND: Use nouveau.

tad1073, as per https://launchpadlibrarian.net/155962480/CurrentDmesg.txt you are using the upstream driver not provided by a supported Ubuntu repository:
[ 3.337810] NVRM: loading NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 331.17 Thu Oct 17 09:46:52 PDT 2013

Hence, if you utilize the following supported repository driver is your low boot time preserved in 13.10+ https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia#NVIDIA_drivers_provided_by_the_Ubuntu_repositories ?

Changed in linux (Ubuntu):
importance: Medium → Low
