Try to use Ffmpeg instead his fork. This is without guaranty.

updates to the libav packages were released today and appear to have solved
the problems, I am now able to export video in both YoutubeHD and FlickrHD

I also uninstalled the Lightwave NLE and that may have been a potential
conflict as well.

I don't know Lightwave NLE. What is it ?
I don't think so. If you have follow the thread, normally, you have pass to
the fork avconv/libav at the true and unique FFmpeg. Libav is (according to
the FFmpeg mailing list) full of bugs.

I can't say whether FFmpeg or libav was in use, all I can say is that I
removed the issue by uninstalling lightwave and doing an update that then
upgraded libav.

Sorry, not lightwave, it's Lightworks! http://www.lwks.com/ is an excellent
crossplatform professional-grade video editor that has just released a
Linux edition, they had released pre-release versions for free, I don't
know if there is still a free version as my hardware was just too slow to
run the kit.
