Bug Description

This happens since upgrading to 13.10. With 13.04 I did not have this problem.

I notice glitches in the text rendering (randomly, one character in many will be rendered as noise). This happens in all applications (xterm, Mozilla, etc). Other that that I observe no crashes or problems.

Attached is a snapshot that shows the problem.

I think the duplicate status is wrong because this bug affects more than just Chromium tabs, it affects every single application that I have run in Unbuntu 13.10. Text randomly is blinked on and off like Christmass tree lights after upgrading from 13.04 to 13.10. This is very annoying to say the least.

Please read the comments in the linked launchpad report. On top of that, take a look at the upstream bug report.

Felipe Bertrand, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

I am using Ubuntu 13.10 with Intel i7 and ATI 7770.
I face exactly the same issue as described and I think this should be fixed in Ubuntu 14.04
as it affects usability of the OS.

Happens to me on 12.04.4 LTS on my daily-use machine ( or earlier with the kernel / enablement stack upgraded ).

Also happened in Mint 13 with that same update applied, for what it's worth.
