Regression: Losing wired connection after upgrading to 13.10

[Montblanc]

After upgrading from 13.04, Kubuntu holds a wired connection for a few seconds and then drops it. I can untick "Enable networking" on the Network Management tray icon and then tick it again to have the connection back for a few seconds. That's what I'm doing right now to submit this bug.

A workaround I've been using since upgrading is to boot latest raring kernel from 3.8 branch.

I also tested 3.12-rc6 and it seems to be already fixed in upstream.

 I tried booting Ubuntu 13.10 from a live session and I'm experiencing the same problem, so it's not happening just on Kubuntu. Is there any regression in the kernel? A live 13.04 doesn't show this problem

P.S.: I had a look at the logs, but today there are no such hw csum failures and none of those lines about skge.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.12 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Montblanc, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:
