Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

When I remove roaming mode and try and assign a static IP to my wireless device using Network Manager, I'm only presented with two options of authentication - WEP (Hex) and WEP (ASCII). Given how easily WEP can be cracked it's not a valid option to use anymore. However, there is no provision in Network Manager to allow you to connect to a WPA network using a static IP.

Many wireless routers allow you to "pin" a certain IP address to various machines based on their MAC however, mine does not (Linksys WRT54G). I wish for this computer to have a static IP to do port-forwarding, but Network Manager doesn't offer this configuration option. Please add in ASAP as it would seem to be quite a common configuration for people to use.

Is this a duplicate of Bug #126968? And Bug #113062?

Yes, my apologies. This does seem to be a duplicate of those two bugs you listed.

the configuration dialog you get is not a network manager dialog, but the gnome network administration dialog.

Anyway, afaik you can now use WPA as well in gnome network admin (ubuntu gutsy - 7.10). Reassigning and setting Fix Released.

Changed in network-manager:
status: New → Fix Released
