Bug Description

I have noticed that sometimes I recieve a text message and see the notification bubble but then the message doesn't appear in my messaging app. This is a serious bug as I might never see the message and might not respond if it is urgent.

I am not sure what the cause is and it only happens to some messages, not all.

Did you remember if you received any text message from that particular contact some time before the bug was reproduced, or it was the first message you got from that number?

We found a bug in the history-service that might be related to this issue.

Tiago, it looks like I got a bunch of messages, none of which appear in the messages app. One possible cause could be that I have two contacts with the same number for some reason (same name too). Could that be the cause?

I got into this situation by deleting a message I received from a particular contact and could never again see messages from that contact in the messaging app but could in the messaging menu. Other contacts messages would appear in both as well.

I deleted the .local/share/history-service/history.sqlite file, allowed the system to create a new one and the problem was cleared.

Jono, contacts with same phone numbers should not trigger this problem as far as I can see.
Does the problem persist after reboot? If not, probably the MR that gustavo proposed will fix this problem.

Tiago, I just tested this again. My wife texted me and it still doesn't appear in the messages app. I have rebooted the phone multiple times and don't see any of her messages.
