Bug Description

I'm using Kubuntu 7.04, and I have just installed ntfs-3g to see and write files on the Windows partition and an usb disk ntfs formatted. I don't have problems with the windows partition but with the usb HD: if I mount it with "sudo mount...." I can see all the files but if I mount it with Kubuntu right click mount I can't see all files, the files aren't hidden, the don't exist! I didn't had this problems with Ubuntu.

Hi! I am an Ubuntu bug triager trying to make sure the bug is complete enough to have an idea what's going wrong.
This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at [WWW] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in kdebase (source package of konqueror among many others).

If you uninstall ntfs-3g, can you see the files in Konqueror? (As far as I know, you should be able to read but not to write files on an NTFS partition).

From ntfs-3g upstream: one very common reason is that if a distro doesn't setup the locale environment (LANG variable, etc) before mounting NTFS. In more details: http://ntfs-3g.org/support.html#locale3

Also without ntfs-3g I can't see some files.

The same files you ded not see before when ntfs-3g was install? (I presume yes)
A previous comment suggested that it was file with non-ASCII characters in it, does it seems to be the case?

Yes the files are the same. I think it can be possible, I have an italian
system but some files i can't see are spanish that can have special
characters as ñ, I've tried to install spanish language pack but nothing
changed.

Well, sorry, I neglected this bug.
Still, now that Ubuntu 7.10 is out (Gutsy), I guess I at least have to ask if this is still happening with it.
