Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 7.04 on my HP pavillion ze4920 laptop. No OpenOffice.org application opens. If I type 'soffice' on the command-line, a window opens, but as soon as I try to create a new document, it exits. There are no errors reported on the terminal.

Can you please provide some additional information to help us track down the root cause of the bug, such as a backtrace of any errors that may show up. If you need info on how to generate one, there is a guide here to help you:

I installed openoffice with debugging symbols and did the backtrace, but no info could be obtained. The gdb output is pasted below. Before running the application, I exported OOO_EXTRA_ARG='-writer', so that oowriter would be started.

Hi,

On the last OpenOffice update, the problem was apparently fixed and
now I can start it.

Thank you.
